Highly aesthetic composite fillings in the anterior region are a dental challenge. In most cases, anterior teeth are filled with only one or perhaps two composite materials. In these cases, however, the results are only moderate to poor.
If you take a close look at the complex structure of an anterior tooth in light, you may understand why a lifelike reconstruction of an anterior tooth requires several composite materials to achieve a beautiful result.
We use the highly aesthetic material Enamel Plus HRi. This composite, developed by the Italian Dr. Lorenzo Vanini, is currently regarded as the best material in the world for aesthetic anterior fillings. HRi Universal Enamel is currently the first and only composite material that has the same light refraction effect as natural enamel. Composite restorations of this type can no longer be distinguished from natural enamel. HRi therefore has the same characteristics as natural enamel. The application of this type of filling therapy is not quite easy and should have been learned directly from Dr. Vanini himself. Working with magnifying glasses is absolutely necessary here.
The tooth to be reconstructed is built with its anatomical structures from the outside to the inside and also from the inside to the outside alternately. At least four different composite materials are used even for small defects. Larger fillings require more than seven different composite materials. Experience, skill and the dentist's sense of colour, together with this aesthetic material, make it possible to create naturally beautiful and flawless teeth.
One can guess how time-consuming this filling technique is. In the case of front teeth, it makes sense to treat several teeth at the same time in one session, if the indication so dictates. The result is impressive and worth the effort in any case.
